Tip Tip Barsaa paani..

While conversing on the lunch-table, one of my desi-colleague asked the resident Singapore desi, if the current season was winterish, as it was raining all along. For which, our manager concluded that, there arent any defined quadrants of weather in Singapore and you can say its Singi climate kinds, bit of sun, rain, humid, cold :-). That was a very interesting answer though. Let me check out in the due course of time.

One thing, which I have noticed after landing here is, for the past 1 month its invariably raining/drizzling during noon. And, we had to use our umbrellas to get to the Indian Veg Food Court around 12 mins from our office by walk. Wondered why it always rained afternoonzz altough used to be sunny all the day along. But, for the past 2-3 days, its been raining cats and dogs in the early hours of the day. It is a pathetic sight of huge rain-drops singing "Good-Morning" in their own way, when you open the door at 7 to goto office. It really is. Luckily, the smallest walk I do to catch the bus is always covered, so not much harm done to my attire.

While the SMRT Volvo Bus cruises along the Expressway hitting 70-80 kmph, I rejoice sitting besides the window and getting my own thought-process. Sometimes doze off :-). Even though, rain-GODs show their utmost fury, the normal life cruises along smoothly. Yeah, there may be a few hiccups for cyclers. But most of them, are not affected. Such is the quality of sanitary/rain-water arrangement here. No wonder, they call it Singapura :-). For instance, it was the same even in California or Amsterdam or haan Brussels too. But in Amsterdam, there were so many canals, authorities neednt have a separate facility.

Just think of the state of Bangalore roads in that case. When I used to work in Bangalore for the Top 3 Indian IT giant for their office in Madivala, the office campus was logged completely with water, to an extent of some of the workstations satisfying their thirst. They had BS500 certification coupled with all those CMMs. Wonder if these certifications cover the natural hazards/Recovery? Even the roads were so clogged with rain-waters, any thoughts of cruising on your vehicle was damn scary. An entry in the DONT DO list. 2-3 days of persistant rains would even bring down the normal functioning of the city. Thats, Bangalore-the Silicon City of Asia they say :-)

But here in Singapore, I wouldnt get the fun of driving over 60kmph . I would not feel the rain-waters right on my cheeks. The eternal bliss of sensing the unique flavour of the mud on first rains (SG is a typical cement land). Pestering mom to prepare hot hot pakodas on a rainy evening. Feeling of eating pakodas or mangalore bajji hot from the pan with coonut chutney.. muuuahhahaha. All the bashings from my parents for driving through in such a downpour. I truly, heartily miss those.

To increase my nostalgic barometer, its been a heavy downpour in Bangalore. Hope my *namma bengalooru* is able to sustain it.. and you screwed up, pampered P2A, I can only say enjoii maadii KingSize :-) as I drool over the state of Hosur Roads, Mysore roads, and the famous Airport Road.
