finally..

this fornight has been a roller-coaster ride for me. Right from my travel agent saying "NO" to m working here at Eindhoven, Nederlands. Finally.. here I am in Europe. My long-lasting dream to visit europe, when I saw the deserts of California. Till now, its been a really adventuorous trip, coupled with the fact that I commute by train everyday to my office.

woow.. aint it kewl to commute by train in europe. Trains keeping up time, as if it were to be a clock on its own :-). But, my air-trip to Amsterdam, wasnt a pleasant one. When I used to see SwissAir flights cruising across in International airport hangars, I used to think, am i lucky enough to board that !!. But my experience on SwissAir was amicably pathetic. Leg room space is so nominal, to a person like me , who is more than 6 foot tall, feels like blasting off the infront seat and making room. Thankfully, the seat besides me was empty and I cud stretch myself peacefully. Stopover at Zurich was a small but pleasant one. Mann aint I love ogling at swiss gals ;) .. jusst kidding

Amsty airport looks nice, but cudnt find time to roam around in the airport terminal. Most interesting stuff at amsty airport was the Central Railway station. Its so near to the Airport, its almost within the Airport. Yep it is, but away from the runway :D. And another thing to notice, you could see multi-level train stations here at amsty. bouy isnt it exciting to watch. Have seen multi-level flyovers(road) at SFO(many places for that matter), but multi-level railway tracks, first glimpse.

Den Bosch, where I stay is cool, calm dutch city. But I work at Eindhoven, place where you can see PHILIPS office everywhere. Ironically, havnt catch hold of a single indian yet, here. Heard that there are a few Indian restau here. Hope I can visit them this weekend. And, catch hold of some desi kudi :)

adios and amigos..

Return of the Urn...

Wattaa series!! Finally, Brit-mania ruled. The *Ashes* are England's. What a proud moment for a country which was deprived of this success for almost ~18 years/ 8 Ashes encounters. Vaughan.. Hats off to U and your resurgent team of professionals.

Needing a Draw, coming to the final Test at The Oval, English achieved it by the virtue of bad weather and STAR of the show, Kevin Pieterson. Truly, England cricket's brash young thing,(who has spent most of his life in South Africa and hailed as a "Traitor" in his homeland) Kevin Pietersen, whose blond mohawk finished drenched with sweat after a magnificent match-saving 158. As luck favours the brave, he over-rode his luck thrice. This magnificient feat overshadowd the batting guile of Ashley Giles, with his career-best 59.

Freddie Flintoff, was adjudged the "Man of the Series for England" and also won the inaugral "Compton-Miller Man of the Series". This Yorkshire lad, will have those winning moments etched on his memoirs. What a proud moment to get back the little urn to his country, in front of his young kid(buoy.. he is veryyyy cuteeee).

One GREAT man, which I feel sorry for was SHANE WARNE. Cruelly, he was the villain for Australia on the final day, who spilled a sitter of a chance off Pietersen at slip, off Brett Lee's bowling, when the England batsman was on 15. He bowled his heart-out the whole series( albeit his personal issues), but was not enough to retain the Urn. Although he will bow out of his final Test series in England as a loser, he had the honour of matching his 1993 feat of a wicket with his first ball(Ball of the CENTURY) with his 2005 feat of snaring a wicket with his last ball. Hats Off Shaine!! You were a true advertisement to the art of "Leg-Spin" on the field( Hope it was off the field too ;) )

Ricky, you missed out on your first Ashes Outing. The difference between the two teams in this Series was Vaughan had 4+ genuine bowlers, while Ponting was reduced to 2+ most of the time.

Watching the series game after game, I gotcha know that those 22 players were playing for a trophy which never existed...Zonked!! its True. There is, however, no doubting the seriousness of the competition. Australia versus England at cricket is the longest and most ferocious international sporting rivalry in existence. Excerpts from one the ASHES History :

The Ashes were born when the upstart colonials beat England at The Oval in 1882 - prompting a mock obituary in an English sporting newspaper which referred to the "ashes" of English cricket. The only tangible trophy is a small urn supposedly containing the ashes of a bail presented to England captain Ivo Bligh in 1883.

This too was a stunt, but the intervening years have lent it respectability. It sits now in the museum at Lord's.

Now its in the hands of resurgent England Team. Victorious Members name would be imprinted on the English fans mind.

As the Australian premiere put it across [Quote] It's been an amazing cricket series, a wonderful series for the game of cricket[UnQuote]. Buoy!! hope we get this kind of cricketing entertainment years to come. Time for Champagne and party...

Quotes

Nice Quotes which gave me enough moolah to contemplate for some moments :

We are friends and I do like to pass the day with you in serious and inconsequential chatter. I wouldn't mind washing up beside you, dusting beside you, reading the back half of the paper while you read the front. We are friends and I would miss you, do miss you and think of you very often. - Jeanette Winterson

That friendship may be at once fond and lasting, there must not only be equal virtue on each part, but virtue of the same kind; not only the same end must be proposed but the same means must be approved by both.

Do not keep on with a mockery of friendship after the substance is gone - but part, while you can part friends. Bury the carcass of friendship: it is not worth embalming. - William Hazlitt

Have a nice weekend...

TGIF...

Rain Rain..
..you bring the sneeze in the blocked respiratory organ
..filling up the potholes on the roads
..forming a serpentine queue of engines on bangalore roads

Rain..You fall on every particle without any discrimination, you wet each and every object with your slippery touch. You come for free, with loads of useful addons. You are at times loud and clear, at times very tacit, at times neither of this. You are special, ur adorable, ur enduring, you make people fall in love with you. You are melodious, ur musical and together you are the sound of Music.

Rain Rain come again
pakku wants to play with you,
Whetting some of my thirsts,
quenching all those sears,
feeling the freshness in you,
breathing the pristine air,
listening to your eternal music,
Rain Rain come again
pakku wants to romp with you.
