Moral Science - 1

Around 1.5 years ago, me was then a Software Engineer working in Top 3 Indian MNC

* On subsequent code update based on the functional document changes*

Me : hey jijin..

jijin: yes mann

Me: Really wonder what these onsite functional team are doing in Belgium, they cant even write a simple word document(supposed to be a functional interface design document)

jijin: hmmm..

Now...

Pakku hoping that functional interface document grinded out from Melboourne, wont invite the similar kind of statements from offhsore engineers sitting in Chennai.. :-(

Moral of the Story: Never ever underestimate/ridicule any kind of professional work, be it MS word document creation/updation, sorry functional interface design document.

(Fore)Hand of GOD

Way back in Wimbledon 2001, Round-16 match with then top seed 'Pistol' Pete Sampras and this new bloke on international tennis circuit, Roger Federer. I was a huge huge fan of Pete for his passion, "huh-hah" free tennis on court, almost-zero unforced errors and above all his energy-levels to play 5-setters. And this match of his was supposed to be his 100th win in Wimby , if he had won it.

Unfortunately, Pete lost to Roger. Many records in Wimby stayed unbroken. Fanatic I was about Pete, I was not happy at all that Roger broke his dream run in Wimbledon. True to my curse, Roger lost his QF game and crashed out.

Five years later, as I laze around in the same city as the Aussie Grandslam is being played, I hear myself thumping "Go Federer". I am impressed by you Roger!!! You look more like mixture of Bjorne Borg and Pete Sampras. Moreso of Sampras. You may end up breaking Petes' number of Grandslams won, still you are worth it. And above all, I have gone crazy about your forehand shot. Its simply the "Hand of GOD"

You are still so young at 25 and have already won 9 grandslams, I wish you double that number by the end of your career and provide tennis (only grandslams) fans like us the entertainment we need the most.

Go for it blokey, you have it in you....
ps: Hope you crush Gonzo in aussie style :-)

Manis' perfect

Mesmerised I was by the stunning music of Mani- Rahman combination, my iPod iteratively sang those seven jewels from GURU. Desperate for the video, I used to download all the available hi-res trailers into my ipod to watch it whenever I could.

The week it got released, I had to fly to Melbourne and I just could not manage time to watch it with my P3A friends. After settling down here, finally I got to watch Gurukanth Desai...

After watching "Dalapathi", I have been fanatic about Manis artistic school of storytelling. Inspired by which got to watch most of his tamil classics. Tamil movie industry is blessed to have such a craftsmen in Mani, carrying forward the legacy of the GREAT K. Balachander. No wonder, why they cribb, for him not directing any of tamil movies these days. Bollywood is lucky :-)

Lot has been said, blogged about Guru, for now I would not want to write any review on this good movie. Product of a perfect teamwork !!!

If Lallan made juntaa notice an actor in AB baby (somehow I still feel Abhi did not provide full justice to the character of Lallan in Yuva), history will traceback Guru has one of his finesses masterpiece.

Must watch movie, even if you are not a Mani admirer :-)

One SHOW for a lifetime !!!

Strenous shifting/travel schedule in the last few weeks did not let me gaze in the news portals. Else, I am a daily visitor and do keep updated in current affairs. But, today morning when I did, I was in for a pleasant(?) surprise.

One more mangie (am I being racist ;-) ) name gets into the international Yellow pages list. Yep, Shilpa Shetty!! I am not sure about the intricate details of the reality show, but only thing I can feel now is that the blogworld has gone gaga over this issue and media is unscrupulously airing updates on her.

An ageing (media say it as 31 years); dragging bollywood career (and even the huge money offered) would have made her take up this bold step to participate in a reality show away from home. And, within few weeks she stands in the same line as our Aish in the popularity chart. What Aish achieved all through these years walking the red carpet with a plasticised smile , shilpa has got it in just few weeks courtesy a “goody” female. Wattaa destiny !!

Well, if “Extra Innings” is for mandira, “Big Brother” is for you Miss. Shetty. Moreso, you have done it in the international arena. Cheers!!!!

Pakku feels, success/popularity can also be gained by faults committed by others, but only differentiation from the self-achieved success is the longevity and the immense pleasure of feeling it :-).

Happy Australia Day/ Indian Republic day,
Enjoy the long weekend.......

Pakku finally breaks his professional lingo

Getting jelled into a team which cultivates multi-culture facet, could be a nice challenge. And , I am going through one. Hardly a week into my new workplace, I am quite loving it.

One of my wellwisher, while travelling from Singapore had quipped, "Try to avoid mingling in desi groups in overseas workplace". In Singapore, she was not comfortable when people spoke in hindi at clientplace and formed there own groups away from the team members. The smart professional individual she is, I knew where she was coming from. And rightfully so, in melbourne, although the desi population is quite evident in my workplace, I tried to be as professional as I could to follow it.

Today morning, I was asked to meet one of the programmers in the team. And his name was quite indian, for that matter quite common south-indian name, Satya. So, pakku decides to meet him personally at his workplace.

Me : Good Morning Satya, I am Prakash. I have joined the team 3 days back. How are you doing?

Satya: Hi Prakash. I am doing good

Me: Satya, I needed some details from you.

Satya: Sure. yada yada yada..... I heard you are from Bangalore

Me: Yep.

Satya: Which part of Bangalore?

Me: * me getting a bit uncomfortable that regional stuff is peeking in, while I was there to talk something official* am from basaveshwaranagar

Satya: Wooww.. me too from that place.

Pakku: *arre Prakash .. hataa saawan kaa ghata*... howda maga, maja maadana haagiddree..

The amount of joy in his face, when he heard me talk in kannada is priceless. And chatting further, we had so many common things to embark on.

Welcome Satya, to my space and hope we dont make our workplace "aussie srirampuram"

Breaking the jinx..

Finally.. I am back in this space *Sound of Drums*

Last fornight has been almost like a fairytale(atleast for me). After packing my bags from (it was heavy one too-had to pay extra baggage amount) Singapore and with mosit eyes, yet delightful face stepped into bangalore. THank GOD, this time I did not have any issues in the airport and it was a smooth exit. Good omen :-)

For all the little time(around 8 days) I spent in bangalore, most of the times I was either away from home or tangled in bangalore traffic. Thanks to which, I could not spend qualtiy time with my family and dear ones. And I am seriously regretting it now.

Yep, my base location has changed. Not at all a news!! Well, this time, I am in a country where I wished to work. Yep, I am now based out of Australia and Melbourne in particular.

Am not sure, why I am doing such major career shifts in such short spans, for now I just want to be like Tiger Woods :-)

Ciao...

As days nearby for my travel back to Bangalore, to say the least, Singapore – I will miss you. For all the wonderful days I had here with you, be it personally or professionally, you shall be etched into my memories eternally.

Blame it to my habit of going away from my dearest, I had to go on with my ambitions and dreams.

But, the journey has to go on and I shall surely come back into your warm cocoon. Hope you shall share the same warmth and love with your parted son. And bless me with all goodwill herein.

Singapore, heartily, I love you and shall do so forever.

No I am not ‘bye’ing you, I shall ciao back :-)

Bangalore, I am coming.. *pakku literally does a bhangra in office*

Happpy New Year

As seconds tickle past, here is me pakku, bidding adieus and cheerios for an wonderful year passed by. 2006 an year where I felt content, ecstatic with watever good thingsI did. If destiny were to give me a choice to live back the passed by years again, I would choose 2006 (so far in my life).

Wonderful year, as I felt a lot of myself amidst grimaces of success(?). Well..just when the year is signing off for itself, it has given me pointers going ahead to next year. Hope the coming year is filled with much more (mooorrrrrreeeeeeee) goodies and utmost satisfaction with watever good things(only good) I take up.

Happy NEW YEAR 2007 and wish the year brings you all success in whatever good things you do. As always keep :-)
